Bill
Rodgers is the most celebrated
men's distance runner in history.
A four-time winner of both the Boston and
New York City Marathons, Rodgers has set
and broken his own records. Track and Field
News ranked Rodgers #1 in the world in the
marathon in 1975, 1977 and 1979. He was
a member of the 1976 U.S. Olympic marathon
team. He is a two-time RRCA Masters Runner
of the Year and has won numerous awards
including the National AAU -DI Benedato
Award for Best Athletic Performance (1975),
Tiffany's Man of the Year (1989), the New
York Road Runner's Club Abebe Biklla Award
(1989) and the CT. Sports Writer's Alliance
Gold Key Award (1994). Rodgers holds five
current American records and one current
world record.
Rodgers received his BA in sociology from
Wesleyan College and his MS is special education
from Boston College. Rodgers is currently
a spokesperson for the Etonic Shoe Company,
Running Times and the Bill Rodgers Running
Center. He runs 25 races and appears at
25 speaking engagements a year.
